Yesterday Abby woke up with a rash on both palms. I thought it was kinda odd so I called the doctor’s office and talked with one of the on call nurses, who had NO clue what it could be. She did say that if it was still there in the morning to call the doctor! We took her in this morning and low and behold she has a hand, foot and mouth virus!! How sad, huh!? I kinda got worked up when the doctor told us but she calmed me down that it’s VERY common as soon as spring appears and almost all kids get it. It is very contagious so a few plans we had with other kids this week are cancelled! Bummer! The doctor was very surprised that she had hadn’t been extra fussy, running a fever or not sleeping very well. She’s just had her normal fussy moments, no fever and has been sleeping her typical 12 hours. I’m wondering if that’s all gonna change. I sure hope not! I talked with our friend Megan (thanks again for all the info) and her baby girl had it last summer and said it was no fun for her! The doctor said it usually lasts a little over 5 days so hopefully she’s right and the rash’s are gone by the end of the week! Poor, poor girl! She still has a smile on her face though!!
